Newborn Pictures!

We had some pictures made at Walmart several days ago and I thought I'd share them with y'all!  Wasn't where I had planned on having pictures done at but they turned out pretty good, none the less.  Enjoy!

1 month old (and 1 day)!

I can't believe my 'doodle bug' is 1 month old already!!  Its been a wonderful past month (with a few "I wanna pull my hair out moments, of course") with her and I wouldn't trade being a mommy for anything in the world!!  She is definately more alert now than she was in her first couple weeks and since yesterday has been flashing more baby smiles at me.  Perhaps she's being close to smiling for real?  Moms out there..when did your babies start smiling (intentionally) at you?  Last night I tried out a size 1 diaper on her just to see how it would fit differently from a newborn size..and it worked out pretty good! My girl is growing so fast!  Even some of her newborn clothes, I can tell won't be fitting her much longer.  :-(  I'm glad she's growing though..just sad to think she'll be a big girl before I know it!

Happy 1 month birthday Makayla!

We Have Survived....

We Have Survived.....

A couple of long outtings (I'm talking leave the house at 9-10am and not get home until 6-7pm)
A few church services
Transitioning sleeping places (from bassinet, to a nap in the crib, to sleeping in the pack and play)
Having pictures made
And..
Our first month!

My little girl is 4 weeks old today (1 month)!!  So you other mommies out there..do you celebrate your little ones monthly birthdays according to weeks (4, 8, 12) or by the date they were born? Because even though today is the 21st..she was born on the 24th...so is she one month old today or the 24th?  Silly question I guess!  Anyways..another question to throw out there (while its on my mind)...any tips on dealing with crankiness?  Even though Makayla is still a really good baby..she tends to be a little cranky after we've been out on one of our outtings (understandable still though, I would be too if I was strapped in a car seat most of the day).  We've got an upcoming short vacation and I'm hoping that during the nights we'll be able to get some sleep and not be dealing with a fussy baby after being 'out and about' all day!!

Since I'm pressed for time..I'll leave you with a couple pictures (new ones)!!

(This one cracks me up..its like she's saying, "AHH!")

Sweetness!

Breastfeeding Bliss

I'll be sure to do a post with some 'newer' pictures here soon..but for now you guys will have to settle for one without!  Last night I was reading a book a friend sent to me shortly before I had Makayla on New Moms.  I read one story about how much this one particular mom enjoyed breastfeeding, particular the  middle of the night feedings.  She said that the time she had with her baby then was the one time where her baby was not fidgety (the baby was at the stage of crawling, etc, and was becoming more independent) and she was able to soak up every minute of that closeness.  So last night when Makayla awoke me around 3am to be fed, I thought about all the milestones that lay ahead of her (crawling, walking, talking, etc) and thought I need to enjoy this time as well.  Not that I hadn't before, but waking up in the middle of the night to a hungry baby is something new to get used to for a new mom.  Anyways, as I held Makayla close to me and she got the nourishment she needed from me, I just soaked it all in.  I don't want to brag by any means, but breastfeeing for us has went remarkably well.  Sure, we've had our times where it was a little rough and she's had her fussy fits, but overall, I really can't complain.  Prayer has alot to do with it, I'm sure.  I prayed for a while before she was born that it would go well for us.  But as I held her close after she was done feeding, I was in a total state of bliss.  I could smell that fresh baby smell in her hair.  She drifted off to sleep within minutes.  I found myself not wanting to put her back in her bassinet, though I did after a while.  After all, they are only little once.  And I wanted to soak in precious moments like this because I know it won't be long before she doesn't need me as much as she does now.

Have I mentioned how much I love being a mom??

3 weeks old!

Can you believe my baby girl is 3 weeks old already?  I can sit during the day when all is quiet and remember when I was in the delivery room having my c-section..how it was such an overwhelming moment when I heard Makayla cry for the first time..just like I thought it would be.  :-)  Such sweet memories!  To say I love my little girl is an understatement..she totally consumes me..I love her more than words could ever express.  I've been trying to take more pictures of her the past couple of days..seems most days all I want to do is just stare at her..how beautiful she is..and just realized I'd better be taking more pictures cause my doodle bug is starting to do some growing and I don't want to miss a minute of her at this age!!  She's doing really well..gets fussy from time to time..but nothing bad.  She's such a good baby.  :-)  Makayla..baby girl..you have definately completed me and daddy's life.  We couldn't imagine our lives without you!
