Enjoying life

Life here lately has been pretty good.  Not much going on..just loving life and looking forward to fall weather (and decorations)!  There are still things I'd like to do before the cooler temps come on full force, like can some salsa with the tomatoes I put in the freezer from my garden, also can some of my fabulous homemade blueberry jam, and do a few painting projects around the house.  Oh and did I mention we are thinking of "finishing" our front porch?  That is, put up railing, new beams, and a gate.  It'll be GREAT to decorate come Christmas time!!

Here are a few things I've been enjoying...

New makeup!  I splurged at Ulta and bought some new mascara, blush, and lip gloss.  It didn't break the bank by any means but makeup is usually something I don't spend much on.  I will tell you it was all worth it, especially the "They're real" mascara!

I got an awesome coupon in the mail recently for a free pair of jeans at Lane Bryant.  FREE!!  The only catch?   You had to buy something else in the store.  But it could be anything.  So I bought a pair of earrings!  You can always use more earrings.

And I have also been painting my nails again.   Or was.  As I'm typing this post my nails are back to being bare.  When I was processing all the tomatoes from the garden my nails got stained pretty bad.  So I painted them.  But I will say, don't buy any of this polish.

See my nails in the picture above?  I took that about 24 hours after applying it.  And, I wasn't home that day, I was out shopping with the family.  Which means my hands weren't in water doing dishes and the like all day like they are when I'm at home all day.  Not good.  I do much better with Sally Hanson Xtreme wear.

And lastly, I've been enjoying Makayla in her totally obsessed Frozen stage.  We watch it every day.  She's got all kinds of Frozen stuff too.  And she sings all the songs.  All the time.

Do you want to build a snowman?  In summer?

To the fair we go!

We made our annual trip to the state fair several days ago and had a wonderful time!  More memories made..lots of yummy food was eaten..and many pictures taken!  My only problem is it never lasts long enough!

Me and my girl, enjoying my all time favorite fair food..calzones!!

I have to explain this picture.  This booth was next to the calzone stand and Makayla kept looking at the little girl that was painted on the stand and saying it was her..lol!  She would say, "Its Makayla!"..so of course, I told her we should take a picture of Makayla..with Makayla!

Love these pictures with the flowers!

Checking out the bees with daddy!

And of course you have to check out the farm equipment!

"Pretty cool, mom!"

The ducks were her favorite thing at the fair, I'm pretty sure!

I don't know what happened, but right after I took this picture she was totally terrified of the pigs!!!

Cheap (made, but not priced!) toys are always a hit!

Ahh..the sloppy grater tator and gator on a stick!

They had a bear show..wow..this guy is huge!!

Taking a dip in the pool after a hot day, not a bad idea!

Matching is a good thing!

Hey y'all..guess what?  We got a new roof over our heads!!

Literally!  It's something we had talked about for, well, since the day we bought our house?

This picture will explain.

Yup.  That's our house and our garage.  With mis-matched roofs.  Red tin on the garage and regular old standard shingles on our house.

And no, that was not something we did.  It was this way when we bought it 5 years ago.

We had wanted to get things "matching" since the day the ink dried on our contract.  Of course, life happens, and the fact that we aren't made of money (and still aren't), it didn't get done as quick as we would have liked.

But that's okay.  God worked it out for us in the end, and we got an amazing deal with a guy Damon works with who just happens to do this kind of work on his days off.  So..God had His hand in this the whole time.  As always!!!

And now, we match!!!!

Disregard the edge of the roof on our house in this picture, it was just before it was completed.  Its all good now!

We went with gray, in case you can't tell by these pictures.  I know it looks kind of white in some of them, but it is a light gray.  We wanted something that was somewhat neutral because again, Lord willing, in the future we want to get new siding for the house and to cover the garage with siding as well.

Again, so everything matches.

Blue siding definitely isn't our 'thing'.  So that will be something in the future we have to look forward to.

For now, every time I step in the front yard, I can't help but stare at our new roof.

Did I mention it matches?

VBS rundown

Our church had its annual vacation bible school most of last week.  It was our first one since getting a new pastor back in January.  Everything went so well!  To see our little country church growing makes my heart want to burst with joy y'all!  I just can't quite put into words how I have been feeling the past several months when it comes to church.  I have such a renewing in my spirit and am so excited.  I haven't felt that in a long, long time.  And seeing several children give their life to God and be baptized during bible school?

Priceless.

Makayla had a blast with all the kids too..so great for her to be able to have some kids to interact with.  She has fun every year and this year was no exception!

In class the first day

The theme was "Wild West" so we took pictures of the kids on a saddle..Makayla wasn't a fan..lol!
Having fun outside

Hanging with mommy

Learning some songs. Can you say "Giddy up, get ready"?

Bonding with her classmates and the pastors wife, affectionately known as "Be-Bon"!

Doing some crafts

And the highlight of the last day, getting to put a pie in Pastor Scott and Sister Yvonne's faces!

Thirteen Years!

On August 4, 2001 I became "Mrs. Green".   Thirteen years have now passed, and I can honestly say I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

We have had a lot of ups and downs.  Lots of laughs and lots of worries.  Loved and lost.  But we've come out stronger because of it all.  My love for my husband is deeper than its ever been and seeing him as a daddy makes my heart melt.  He's the BEST dad ever.  And he's the BEST husband ever.

Thank you God for bringing him my way!!!  All my prayers were answered the moment we met!
