Stroller Advice!

Hey all you blogger mommies out there!  I need some advice!  Today I was out and looking at jogging strollers.  We've been 'intrigued' by them for several months now..mainly because they look like they'd travel well over rough terrain (because of the bigger wheels..and the wheels being rubber instead of small and that hard plastic stuff).  Now that the summer months has hit us..I've discovered our current strollers shade isn't adequate.  I also dislike the way the seat reclines (with the adjustable tethers).

We looked at a possibility at Target today.....

Graco Trekko 3-Wheel Stroller.Opens in a new window

The Graco Trekko..(what a name..lol!).  I loved how easily it turned..and ESPECIALLY the way the seat reclines/adjusts!!  It clicks into 4 or 5 different positions..no adjustable tether straps to fool with!  But then..I noticed there were no cupholders.  For me or Makayla!  Bummer.  Of course I know you can buy them and attach them yourself..but it just looks like it would come with them (kinda crazy if u ask me!).  Also it didnt look like it folded very flat..to get it 'flatter' you have to snap off the front wheel.  A little bit of a hassle..but do-able, I guess.

The other one I saw today was while I was browsing in Babies R Us......

The Baby Trend Expedition.  It was on sale (BONUS!) and thus cheaper than the one I had seen at Target.  LOVED that...especially since we're having to really watch our $$$ right now.  I liked the tires on this one better (Damon didn't to see it first hand though..he was in the car with a napping Makayla).  And it had cupholders!  The 2 things I didn't like..it had the adjustable tethers and the fabric seemed super cheap.  Yuck.  I mean it was like the cheapest of cheap fabric I'd ever seen on a stroller.  I think our umbrella stroller has better feeling fabric than this one did.  And I also have no idea how well it folds (I couldn't figure it out).

Soooooo..with all that being said..can anyone out there give me some recommendations for jogging strollers?!  Pretty please!!  And the more detailed you can be about what you like/dislike..I'd VERY much appreciate it!!!

  1. I hear great things about Baby Trend! And if it's going to be used a lot outdoors, then the Baby Trend tires are the way to go. Our City Mini has tires like the Graco, which is fine becuase we use it indoors. But outdoors, they wouldn't fly. You need real tires. And I agree on the cup holders. I think the Baby Trend fabric might be similar to that on our Jeep stroller, which we use outdoors, but that fabric doesn't bother me. Just my opinion!

  2. Hey melanie,
I have the baby trend expedition jogging stroller and i love mine! The cup holders ARE really nice and super convenient for long walks, i also love that there are several pockets on the stroller. for sunscreen, snacks, keys, etc. it rides really smooth and my little girl loves to go for walks in it. i also like that the sun shade can be completely adjusted. the drawstring in back that adjusts the seat reclining is a little annoying, but i only adjust it when putting the stroller in the car. it doesn't fold down too small- one drawback. it does fit in the trunk of my toyota corolla, though, no problem. i bought mine at a thrift store for super cheap ($25) and have used and used and used it. check around as sometimes you can get great deals and i feel the fabric cleans up really nicely on them. i would recommend the babytrend.

  3. Hey there! Thanks for mentioning us in your blog post. We'll be posting this later this evening so some other parents can help give you some input on their preferred jogger.

    Have a great weekend,

  4. Hey, I too own a Baby Trend Expedition and love it! I looked at several jogging strollers and found the Baby Trend to be the most bang for your buck (especially if you're on a budget). The tethers can be annoying, but are manageable. The fabric is easy to clean and the stroller is a dream to fold - it fits nicely in my trunk. My one complaint would be the tires. I've had all three tubes replaced and the rim pounded out on one of the wheels. I use my jogger on the "mean" and often unclean streets of Vegas 6 days a week, at least 3-4 miles, so a lot of wear and tear/heavy use. Rough trail terrain may be ok, just not roads with lots of broken glass, nails, etc. Good luck with your decision and happy jogging!

  6. I love my Babytrend!! I love it so much that when I was in the market for a double jogger I went with the Babytrend as well. I have been using it for over 4 yrs now and it is still in great condition, and now that we live in Hawaii, it gets used almost daily with my youngest. I actually like the drawstring to recline the seat, I found it very easy and convenient to recline the seat after my son has fallen asleep. I have 2 complaints with it, and that is the basket underneath does not store very much (it does have a pouch on the back of the seat; which I like a lot), but it handles great so I would rather have an easy to push stroller than a huge basket. My 2nd complaint is it really spoils a person when it comes to maneuverability-- I got so used to how it handled I would have hard time when I would use a shopping cart at the store (I try moving those around one handed, and it does not work). You mentioned you were concerned about the quality of the fabric and I will tell you our 4yr old stroller has no tears and is still in great condition.

  7. I have a Baby Trend Navigator double stroller. I love everything about it except that it is hard to fit into a car. Thank goodness I have a truck but my favorite thing about it is the tires and how well they do on our back roads. We live on road that is semi-paved(meaning really rough)in places and gravel also. It also goes well in grass or fields! I hardly ever adjust the seat backs but when I have it was easy to recline a sleeping baby. Just a little harder to get it back up to the upright position later. I also love the sunshades. They are independent for both sides so since my older son likes to adjust his own he doesn't bother the baby's on the other side. And the first time I tried to fold mine it took me a minute to figure it out also. But after you know it's easy!

  8. I have that baby trend stroller and I love love love mine. I use it for many things but it is great for walks...The cupholders come in handy and the other compartments. I know you werent thrilled with the straps but I must say the stroller is def. worth the money.
