A Letter to Me

Thanks to West Virginia native Brad Paisley for the inspiration to this post!

Dear Me,

The lyrics in this song are so very true.  You might not be able to see it at 17, but your life is going in the right direction.  You may stumble from time to time and shed some tears, but in the end it'll all be worth it.

Your going to get married, just like you always hoped you would.  It'll come with struggles, but he's gonna love you beyond belief.  Your even going to become a mother to a beautiful little girl.  I know, your saying, "ME?  A mother?"..but trust me, she's the best thing that's ever going to happen to you.  You'll find a love so deep you never knew existed.

Hug Grandpa more, he won't be around much longer.  Say "I love you" more.  Time is shorter than you think. That old saying that time goes by faster with age is something you'll learn is very true.

Enjoy every moment.  Savor every memory.  Make memories.  Take more pictures (even though you don't see how that's possible).  Learn to trust God more.  Don't stress out over the small stuff, you'll find its all for nothing.  Trust your instincts, more likely than not, they're right.  Never give up.  Let go when you need to and hold on tight to what really matters.

Friends will come and go (believe me!), but you'll find a true friend that you'll never know what you ever did before she came along.  At 17, Friday night ballgames rule in the fall, but like the song says, your best years are ahead of you.  Don't fear the future, look forward to living it.

And hold onto God with all that lies within you.
