Miscellany Monday!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

ONE.

I have SO been slacking in my blogging!  Since having Makayla my time to get online is usually sparse and sporadic.  Advice needed..how do you new mommies out there find time to blog?  Seriously!  I don't want to neglect my blog (and the few readers I have)..I enjoy it too much and enjoy reading other blogs as well.

TWO.

Little Makayla will be 3 MONTHS old in a couple days!  Where did the time go??  I wish she could stay this age forever..she's just so darn cute!

THREE.

We went for a stroller walk in our neighborhood this evening.  Lovely!  The weather was GREAT..finally a break from the summer heat..and we got out to enjoy it!  Just wished I had remembered my camera... :-(

FOUR.

Needing to do a photobook through Shutterfly.  Pronto.

FIVE.

Any other new mommies got the "I want to change my hairstyle" bug?  I have it and am seriously close to making a drastic change to my 'do' this week.  Stay tuned..pictures later this week may be shocking.....

Miscellany Monday!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

~ONE~

I am SO MAD at Hobby Lobby!!  I went in on saturday with the intent on purchasing Makayla's cutie little lamp I found weeks ago but low and behold their flyers in the store didn't have the 40% off coupon printed on it..you had to print the coupon yourself from home.  ARRGG!  There was no way I was going to pay full price (hello 50 bucks) for it so I had to let it go.  My new plan, print said coupon, give to my mom, let her pick it up next time she's over that way..since yeah..I probably won't be seeing a Hobby Lobby for quite a while now that Makayla's arrival is right around the corner.  I'm still bummed.

~TWO~

Damon caught a couple trout in the creek by our house last week.  Yay!  I was so glad he got to have some fishing fun for himself..he rarely gets to do that.  Here is his great 'catch'..other than me that is...ha!

~THREE~

While out on saturday, I got quite the pampering!!  New haircut (which I'm still
adjusting to) and my very first spa pedicure!!  Oh happy day!!  I loved the pedicure and can't wait to do it again..whenever that may be!  My hair..well..I was expecting to have a little more, length-wise, than what I was left with.  My fault for not paying attention to the stylist when she showed me how much she was going to take off after I showed her myself how much I wanted off.  If that makes sense.  :-/  Anyways..its not too bad and I found today that I like it best styled curly..or au naturel for me!  What do y'all think?

And my cute pedi!

~FOUR~

Since it is springtime..thought y'all might like to take a sneak peak of my hanging flowers on my front porch!  I picked them up a couple weeks ago when I went out w/my mom to get Mother's Day flowers and meet with a pediatrician for Makayla.  I have 2 on my front porch that are identical.  The large pot we just bought over the weekend to transplant my 'hair' into.  Yes..I said 'my hair'.  I don't know what this thing is called..but I always said it reminded me of my hair..long and thick and slightly wild!  The planter box we had it in before was quickly rotting away..so a large pot was in order.  I like it much better this way!

Hope your having a wonderful monday!!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Happy Monday everyone!!

~one~
Well..the last weekend me and Damon will ever have it just being "us" is officially over.  He'll be working the next 2 which means the next weekend he'll be off will be Memorial Weekend.  Makayla will be here by then!  So hard to believe..but we had a nice weekend together.  Busy..as usual..but I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be than with my man.  :-)

~two~
So I told Damon when we were out on friday that I'd REALLY like to have a nice gate built between the house and garage (aka..the breezeway) since our little metal gate was literally falling apart and the cat (Thomas) could walk right thru it.  I wanted a nicer gate for those reasons, plus many others, namely once Makayla is walking (I know..long time before that happens..but time has a way of slipping away from us!) I didn't want her to be able to run out into the front yard within seconds.  And we have a particular nosey neighbor nearby that I know in the past has came into our backyard..while we were not home..to look at our dog.  She left evidence (a dog biscuit)..so I know who it was.  I don't like people coming into my yard when I'm not home and nosing around.  So a gate was in order!!  My sweet and talented hubby is GREAT when it comes to working with wood (he's worked at Broyhill Furniture years ago) so he ended up making one for us!  I love the way it turned out..will probably put some kind of stain on it later on down the line..but here is a picture of our new gate!!

~three~
We had a nice Mother's Day on sunday..heard a wonderful sermon at church that morning then had a cookout at my parent's house in the afternoon.  The weather couldn't have been better for the occasion!  So hard to believe next mother's day I'll have my own little one!!   Here is me and my mom...

~four~
I do however have my furbaby that I've always celebrated Mother's Day with..Miss Ravey!  I am her momma..which deserves to be noticed.  She's always been my little girl..my kid..my sweetie.  I love her so much!!  Here is a picture of us yesterday celebrating our last Mother's Day where she doesn't have to 'share' me!

~five~
Lastly, I thought you might be interested to see some of the flowers thats blooming around our place as of today!  After getting back from a yard sale a little while ago I decided to take a couple pictures, for your viewing pleasure!  My purple japenese iris has finally bloomed (I think they are a tad late this year) and what we call a 'bubbyrose' bush has been blooming for quite some time now.  I LOVE that thing..it smells like fresh cantelope..no kidding!!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

ONE.

Everyone has either been talking about the "Royal Wedding" or Osama Bin Laden's death (which is still rather 'new' news).  The royal wedding was amazing, as expected!  But I didn't get up at 4am to watch it..no way!  I did see their first kiss live on tv though (thanks to my dr appointment that day I was up earlier than usual)..so sweet!  Loved Kate's dress..simple, elegant, appropriate.  She's one classy lady!  Wonder if when Harry gets married if his wedding will be of this caliber??  He seems like one wild man!  LOL!

TWO.

I 'think' I've finally discovered a way to sleep that'll keep me comfortable throughout the night!!  I'm going to try it tonight (fingers crossed) so I'm hoping it works.  I've not slept the best for the past several days..the further along in my pregnancy I get the more uncomfortable I get as well.  After much tossing and turning last night..I found having a pillow behind me (for back support) and one in front of me (for tummy support) along with the fan running (because I get HOT!) I was out like a light after getting into this position.  Oh how I hope this works from here on out!!!!

THREE.

Got back from H & R Block this morning w/hubby.  We got a lovely letter from the IRS last week stating our returns from last year weren't right so we had to get everything straightened up.  Don't wanna mess with them thats for sure!!  Which is exactly why I don't do our taxes to begin with..they'd probably show up at my house with handcuffs if I ever attempted it..I'd probably mess them up so badly!  At least this way I have someone else to blame if something doesn't get done right..ha!  And the good news..they actually owe us more money..ROFL!!  Score one for us!

FOUR.

Stopped at a yard sale on the way home..first one of the season!!  Woop woop!!!  And I racked up on some awesome little clothes for Makayla!!!  The final total?  I think it was like $8.50..and everything was name brand..totally brand new condition.  I could have spent another hour down there looking (and buying) but hubby had to get home to get in bed after working all night.  Oh how I am looking forward to going to more yard sales this year!!  :-)  Pics to come later this week!

Miscellany Monday!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

~ONE~
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday over the weekend!!  We had a nice time here..the weather was better than what was predicted before the weekend hit so that was a nice suprise!  Couldn't help but think that next Easter we'll be hiding eggs for Makayla..buying her first Easter dress..and most importantly, teaching her about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus!

~TWO~
I totally got into 'baby mode' while out shopping on Friday.  I picked up most of what I could think of that was left on my list of things I really needed to have before she makes her arrival.  Baby bathtub, pack n' play, diaper genie, plus alot of other small essentials.  I also found a cutie orange dress for her at Target which may or may not be her coming home outfit!!!
(a link since I couldn't copy and paste the picture)

~THREE~
Damon spent his saturday off cleaning out the garage.  He did an AMAZING job and it looks better than ever, imo!  He even gave my car his old parking 'spot' which is closer to the backdoor to the garage.  Will make it easier when I'm bringing Makayla in and out and give me more room as well.  Love you honey!

~FOUR~
Still trying to find a pediatrican for Makayla..going around and asking advice to various friends who have babies has proven to be the best method thus far.  I know I might not pick 'the one' right off the bat and might end up switching over time..I just want to pick a good one the first go around.  Pray for me!!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one.
We started our weekend off right by having our first dinner outside on our new outdoor dining set we bought last week!  On the menu?  Homemade pizza..yumo!!  It was a great day for enjoying the springtime outdoors!

two.
Saturday was spent in Beckley.  We hadn't been over there in a few weeks so it was really good to get to head back!  An Amish Store that we stopped into over there was having a 3 year anniversary celebration and with my purchases (a new bible cover, diaper bag, and brocolli/cheese soup mix) I got a little treat bag filled w/homemade strawberry jam, a beef stick, homemade chocolate sucker, and a coupon for my next visit!  Sweet!  Plus they were giving away free samples AND when I checked out I also won a $5 gift card!!  Here is my diaper bag...the bible cover is identical to it...
(technically its a purse..but I'm going to use it as a diaper bag!)

three.
A little something funny..it was raining the other day and Damon brought Thomas in to relax with us for a bit.  Now granted..in the wintertime this happens quite often as he brings Thomas from the back bedroom we keep him in into the living room w/us..but it makes for such a funny picture because my whole 'gang' is together!  Of course I'm not in the picture since I was the one who took it..but I'm usually on the couch beside Damon..behind Ravey.  One big happy family!

(Ravey doesnt know what Thomas even is until she sees his tail..thats why she tolerates him this close!)
four.
On sunday we had a church dinner!!  I took some homemade fudge (both chocolate and peanut butter), coconut bread pudding, and cucumbers/onions in italian dressing.  We had a GREAT time and a young man gave his life to the Lord during the service!!!!  I only thought to take one picture beforehand..so here is it..of the food..of course!

five.
And lastly, I decided to make a friend of mine a sign for when her baby comes into the world this summer.  I made one for Makayla a little while ago (need to take some pictures of it!) and it turned out perfectly!  My friend is having a little boy and having a Noah's Ark theme for his nursery..so this is how his turned out.  I was going to give it to her at church yesterday, but she wasn't there..so hopefully I'll see her sometime real soon to give it to her!  What do ya think?

Miscellany Monday ~ Nursery Edition!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

I know you've all been waiting patiently for this!!

one.

It was one VERY busy weekend!!  I'll start with saturday, and we'll go from there!  After going to a disappointing yard sale early that morning, we came home and put together the crib for Makayla's nursery!!  Perfect day for it too mind you, it rained all afternoon.  Once we got the crib together (was a MUCH easier process than I expected), I couldn't help myself and went into 'decorating' mode!  Once I got started getting all her stuff organized, sorted, etc, etc, I started putting it all in its rightful places and by the end of the evening, I had her nursery complete!  Here is the finished product..I'm in looove!!!

(as you walk into the room this is how it looks)

(the crib, up close)

(still have to paint and hang the mirror that'll go over the dresser)

(This one turned out a little dark..but you get the idea)

two.

You probably noticed the big tree decal I have on the wall behind her crib!  I worked on that friday night after Damon left for work.  It wasn't too hard to do, but definately tedious work!  I ordered the decal online on ebay.  If any of y'all would like to know the seller, just drop me a line and I'd be happy to share!  I've shared a few times my 'inspiration' for Makayla's nursery.  A few years ago (before I was 'bit' by the baby bug!) I saw an interview given by Samantha Harris after the birth of her baby girl.  They toured her nursery and I thought it was THE prettiest thing I'd ever seen!  So here ya go..for comparison purposes....

Seeing this reminds me..I still need to get a nice rug for her room!

three.

Along with her bedding also came a cute toy bag..I have it displayed on the wall just as you enter her bedroom.

And a closer look at her bedding, its 'french toile' print in pink and brown and I also bought it on ebay!

four.

You may have noticed the two signs I have hanging over from her bed with the letters "M" and "G"..I made those a while back!  Love them!  I just bought some scrapbooking paper at Hobby Lobby and some stencils and cut out her initials and glued them onto the paper!  Found the frames at Walmart pretty cheap..like $3 a piece I believe.  Easy project!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
one.

Oh what a weekend around here!  And not in a real good way either..there have been several deaths in our community in the past week...all of which are people that we were either related to or knew very well.  Pray for those who have lost their loved ones recently.

two.

At least my dr appointment went well on friday!  Everything still is looking good..heartbeat is strong and I'm still gaining!  That scale is gettin kinda scary to me..I almost don't want to even look when I get on it now..lol!  And my dr was able to help us get a problem resolved..whew..one less thing to worry about!

three.

I placed an order with the lovely Venessa for some ponytail holders and a bracelet to help her bring baby DLC home.  If you've not checked out her blog..head over there now..meet this sweet lady..and help them out if you can!

four.

Anyone else have problems with Target?  Don't get me wrong..I am a big fan of Target..but when I went in on friday to purchase Makayla's bassinet..they had none in stock and couldn't give me an idea of when or if they'd get any in.  That helps alot...right?  So I go online (perhaps I can order it..thinks me) and its NOWHERE on their website!!  Isn't that just a bit odd?  I did however find another very sweet bassinet and if I'm not able to get the one I originally wanted...this will do nicely...
I couldn't put up a picture..it wouldn't let me for some reason!

five.

Paint has been bought for the nursery!!!!  So exciting..I can't WAIT to see it on the walls to see how its going to look!  I'm hoping Behr paint lives up to its reputation.  I've never tried it before but the guy at Home Depot assured me it met the qualifications I was looking for in paint!  The color?  Poetic Princess..sounds so cute and girly doesn't it?!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one.

I was able to get some great deals at several stores for baby shower decorations and necessities over the weekend!!  I LOVE the pink toile napkins and table cloth I scored at the party store!  Who knew they'd make baby shower stuff in pink toile??  Totally goes w/my nursery theme!

two.

I've been shopping around for an overnight bag to take w/me to the hospital when Makayla comes.  The one I wanted originally was gone by time I got back to the place that had it.  Bummer.  But I did find this cutie on ebay....

Personalized - Quilted Mricofiber Duffle Overnight Bag
three.

Miss Daisy is getting more spunk in her every day!  She's so cute..but I'm a little afraid to walk her now for fear she'll 'tug' too hard on the leash!  So glad we have her home w/us finally!

four.

Prayers for our family..my hubby's aunt passed away this morning..so I imagine this week will be rather busy with helping my MIL (it was her sister) with the funeral arrangements.

five.

Prayers for me this week as well as I have my 30th week appointment on friday!  30 WEEKS!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Its monday, time for some miscellany!!

one.

I wanted to send a big THANKS to all who commented on the post I did last week on baby shower game ideas!  It truely did help me out alot..even though I am still doing some research on what exactly I want to do for my shower.  If you come up with anymore ideas, please feel free to pass them on my way!

two.

We finally joined the 21st century (I guess thats what century it is..?) and bought a flat screen tv over the weekend!  Gotta say..I am a fan even though when they first came out I didn't think I'd much care if we had the 'old' type or one of those.
Samsung LN40C630 40" LCD HDTV
three.

Big discovery made over the weekend..I can eat bananas again!!  After starting to suffer with some minor pregnancy related leg cramps last week, I talked to my dr about it on friday when I saw her and she told me to try bananas.  When I told her that bananas had been one of those foods that had grossed me out since becoming preggo..she said..try it anyways!  So I braved the little yellow monsters once more and to my suprise I'm able to eat them once again!  Yay!  Now if I can just get past the chocolate ice cream yuck...

four.

As I was in Marshall's on friday, I thought I'd try to find a nice suitable 'something' to put my clothes and stuff in when I have to head to the hospital to have Makayla.  I wasn't expecting to be purchasing a designer diaper bag!!!!  But thats exactly what I did..and I'm luvin' it..can't wait till I'm using it!!

five.

Don't forget everyone..this week is St. Paddy's Day!!!  Hope you have something special in mind to do to celebrate the 'day of the green'!  For us, I'm fixing a corned beef and some cabbage and making a pistachio pudding cake for dessert..yum!!  I'll put up the recipe in a couple days for the cake, in case any of yall would like to give it a try!!
