I don't, however, like playing the typical "Bingo" at showers. That just screams "boring" and "I didn't care what we play at the shower..its just easy.". No offense to anyone who's done Bingo at a shower, its just my personal preference. I do, however, enjoy the birthday/anniversary game and am planning on doing that one! It generates alot of laughs and is most always a hit. In case you've never heard of it before, all the guests write their birthdates and anniversary dates on a slip of paper (both seperate), and when the game begins a date is called out. The person who it relates to (whether its your birthday or anniversary) grabs a "prize". You have 'x' amount of prizes and anyone can 'steal' your prize if their 'date' is called out. Whoever is left with prizes at the end of the game wins! Sorry if that didn't make much sense..but if you played it before..you understand!
Some rather 'interesting' games I saw online included "Pin the sperm on the egg"..seriously??? I thought that was the oddest one I saw. There was also one where you put a plastic baby and a piece of string in a clear plastic cup, fill it with water and freeze it. Have the guests guess what time the baby will be 'born'..that is..when the water thaws and the baby is out of the ice. I think its also called something like 'what time will the water break'. How people come up with some of these ideas is beyond me!! I thought that one was rather cute though and might be a possibility.
At any rate, I'd LOVE to hear your ideas and any games you might have played at baby showers, whether it was your own shower or one you attended!!!
Hey Mel...yeah, I'm in the camp of not liking many shower games (either bridal or baby) because they can often end up embarrassing for the guest of honor! I did have a friend who did a variation on that frozen baby one though. She froze lots of babies in ice cube trays, and then filled each person's glass with ice plus one of the frozen baby cubes. Then they just got whatever drink they wanted. Then whoever had their baby "born" (thawed) first, got a prize. Good luck with coming up with your games!

bring string and have everyone guestimate how big the mom's belly is (then have her tie string around her belly to compare) -- closest person wins
bring lots of dolls with different pieces of clothes and have guests team up and have to undress and dress the doll (with a diaper)
of course there are the scramble word games
pictures of famous celebrity kids and you either have to guess their name or their famous parents

We've done the baby in the ice one, except we made it a race to get the plastic baby out of the ice by whatever means necessary- the first person to "break the water" wins! And there's always the melted candy bar in a diaper game, which is interesting. :-D
