Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

~One~
Maybe one of you dear ladies out there can help me out that are currently expecting..but ever since I had my miscarriage a couple months back..I am now having second thoughts about trying to conceive.  Its not that I don't want a child..that desire is still there..I'm now scared of the DR BILLS that said pregnancy could incur!  It seems the bills just keep coming in from the dr visits I made during that 2 week time period..and I'm finding out..our insurance isn't the greatest.  Just leaves me to thinking..my goodness..what would it be like if I was in the hospital actually delivering?!?

I just finished staining our new bar-area topper thingy..not sure what you call it..but we custom ordered a piece of character hickory from a lumber company while in Amish Country called Keim Lumber (it puts Lowes and Home Depot to shame!). We installed it over the weekend..ripping out the old countertop that was there..that incidentally we found wasn't even secured properly..not one nail held that thing in place!!! Anyways..I used a wood conditioner first..then applied Minwax 'Natural' stain to bring out the beautiful highlights in the wood. Its GORGEOUS!! Now I just need to get some poly to gloss it up a bit and it'll be done! Look for some pics soon!

I'm really looking forward to Damon getting back to his normal work schedule. Every morning I just can't seem to get going and I don't feel like I have enough time to do things around the house. I guess night shift is just in my blood!

~Four~

Speaking of Damon..his EMT-M test is this thursday..please remember him in your prayers!! The poor guy has been studying his brains out lately. He's not the best 'test-taker'..he tends to overthink the questions. I'm trusting in God to be with him during that final!

~Five~

I'm really excited that tonight the new season of Dancing With the Stars begins!!!!  Anyone else out there a big fan of DWTS?  Not sure who I'll be rooting for this season just yet..we'll have to see how tonight goes (and so I can remember all the celebs dancing this time around)!
~Six~

I am hoping for the crisp, cool fall weather to catch up with the season!! The forecast for here is showing 80s this week..ugh!! I'm ready for jeans and jackets..anyone else?!

Hope everyone is having a great monday!!

  1. I know that without money things can be terribly hard - I've lived thru most of my marriage with NO money. But, there is no amount of money in this world that could replace my son. God ALWAYS provides, and I know this first hand. When we got pregnant, we had nothing. We still don't have much, but we are making it and making it quite comfortably. Bills are always going to be there, no matter what. If it were me, I'd definitely try to conceive again. Children bring so much joy and I would live in debt for the rest of my life with no complaints just to have my son :-)

And I'm SO excited for DWTS!!!

  2. Ooo I can't wait to see your new bar countertop; sounds really neat!

Sometimes I watch DWTS, but when they announced their cast this season I remembering rolling my eyes over and over again.. so I may tune in occasionally!

I have a miscellany a lot like your #6. We are still experiencing weather in the 80s, too.

  3. I know what you mean about medical bill stress. It tends to stress me out too, but I've just been letting Derek worry about it, and not think about it. It's not good for the baby for me to be stressed. It is alot of expenses to think about, but to me, to have my baby at the end of it is so worth it. We're just going to pay for as much of the bills as we can at the time they come up, and if worse comes to worse, hospitals usually work out a payment plan for you if you need it. Also, I don't know if your doctor's office talked to you about this or not, but alot of OB's just charge you a flat fee at the end of the pregnancy for all your office visits and the delivery. It's nice that it comes at the end like that, because then it's all in one calendar year for the insurance, and we know what to expect as far as total costs. Blood tests and ultrasounds are charged seperately with my office though, so something to keep in mind - any testing and ultrasounds will be in addition to that final fee.
Don't let it discourage you from having a baby - the finances always tend to work out, so I don't think it's something to worry about too much. You shouldn't let that stop you, because the money it costs to have the baby is only a temporary thing - that little human soul will last FOREVER. That's what I think!
