Kindred Connection Party--Food Edition!

Time for another Kindred Connection Party with Kristin at the Windy Poplars blog!  Probably my favorite topic so far..its about food!  LOL!

Food!

Questions for the week:

1. What is your favorite ethnicity of food?

My favorite ethnicity of food is definately a tie!  I've always LOVED italian food..I can't seem to get enough of it and haven't ran across anything thats italian that I haven't liked! My other favorite is mexican.  Several years ago if you had told me I would come to love mexican cuisine I would have told you that you were nuts!  Used to hate the stuff..couldn't stand the sight of refried beans, lettuce, and all of that..but now I absolutely love it!  Isn't it funny how you can go from hating a certain food to loving it?  I'm this way w/lettuce especially..sometimes I think I'm part rabbit......

2. If you could eat only one meal for two weeks straight, what would it be?

Hmmm..thats a really good question!  I'd probably have to say some type of soup..because the longer soup sets the better tasting it gets!  I love zuppa toscana soup and make it alot in the winter months..as welll as chicken tortilla and chicken chili!

3.What is the "signature" dish that you cook? (you know, that always receives rave reviews and/or you get requests for)

That would be alot of things!  I frequently take several dishes when our church has a dinner..and alot of the things they "look" for me to bring are my sweet and sour meatballs, chicken and dumplings, lemon trifle, fudge, and cracker salad!

4. Is there something that you just can't handle eating - like gag reflex?

Mayo tends to freak me out (I'm alot like Rachael Ray in that way!)..I just can't handle it on a sandwich or burger.  Its fine "in" stuff like potato salad and such..but to eat it as a condiment..no thanks!  Your gonna think I'm nuts..but another one for me is tomatoes!  I love raising them..using them when I do my canning in the summer with things like hommade salsa and pizza sauce..but to eat one alone..again like on a sandwich or burger..bleck!  Grosses me out!
5. Do you think that the Kindred Connection should continue through the summer, or take the summer off?

I personally LOVE the connection parties..but I know you (Kristin) might need a break or want to try something new..so thats your call!  :-)

  2. Hi Melanie - I love Mexican food (probably because I grew up in Texas). I had an uncle who lived in Alabama (born and raised there) who wouldn't touch Mexican food. Funny how people from different regions of the country have different tastes.

Like Kristen - the cracker salad has me intrigued. I have a recipe for cornbread salad - perhaps similar??

  3. LOL..maybe the cracker salad recipe should be the one featured for my next monday munchies column!!!! I know..everyone thinks..cracker salad? Seriously? LOL..personally I don't like it (mayo & tomatoes are in it..my 2 yuck foods)..but anyone who likes food that tastes "old fashioned" really likes it! Damon could eat the whole bowl that I make!
